Seasonal Availability Reserve Your Getaway Today!

With the news of the COVID-19 virus dominating the news, we want to reassure all of our guests that you have made the right decision to spend your vacation at  Noble Cottage this summer. We believe that Mt. Desert Island, the National Park, and especially our shorefront home on the quiet side of the island to be some of the safest places to spend this summer's vacation. Fifty yards or more from anyone else, the house is backed by 10 acres of ours and over one hundred acres owned by our two nearest neighbors. This setting offers natural seclusion to buffer you from the madding crowds without being isolated. Additionally, the park is comfortably enjoyed without the need to get elbow to elbow with other visitors. In fact, there are seldom used trails, roads and swimming holes within the park less than 2 miles of our house, where you can surround yourself with the natural beauty of Acadia and Down East Maine without seeing another soul.

We will of course thoroughly clean and disinfect the house immediately prior to your arrival, so you will be able to relax and enjoy yourselves during your stay.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to share them with us and know that your wellness, safety and enjoyment are our priorities. And, we still have some limited availability in July and September, if you know of anyone else looking for a safe and relaxing escape this summer!

Regards,
Roger Noble

Perfect Place to Socially Distance on the Gorgeous Maine Coast!

Our 2nd summer in a row staying here! Perfect setup for our extended family with a separate attached 'apartment' complete with it's own kitchen deck and bathroom. Close proximity to Bar Harbor (25min) and Southwest Harbor (15 min). Secluded and private with breathtaking views and memorable sunsets over the waters of Seal Cove. Spied some seals, porpoises and even a bald eagle from the enormous deck. There is a dock for fishing with a couple of kayaks to explore the surrounding mini islands and coast. Property owner (Roger) is super friendly and responsive. The weather was gorgeous and we were sad to leave, but look forward to hopefully returning someday soon!- Thaddeus S. July 2020

Mt Desert Island Gem

This cabin was in a perfect location - convenient to Acadia National Park, on the water, quiet and relaxing. We hiked, kayaked, canoed, climbed, and cycled our way through a week of vacation and still had time to read and do a puzzle. Well stocked with kitchen supplies, kayaks, and one of the best sunset views around! Was NOT disappointed in any way. -- Michael F., August 2019

Amazing view from the deck!

Sitting on the deck, watching eagles and dolphins, as well as the calm mornings and the spectacular sunsets, was a high point of my family’s vacation. The owner, Roger Noble, was terrific and gave us great advice on walks and restaurants. The house is spread out and informal, perfect for a big family like ours. We can’t wait to go back. -- Julia F., July 2019

Great property for large family gathering

We were 11 and the house had a quiet side for grandparents and other quiet people. The 2 kitchens were well appointed. Also two sets of washer/dryers. Easy access to the floating dock with kayaks. And as many previous posts have mentioned...a huge deck, safe for small kids, with lots of seating. Stunning views!

The property is very convenient to all of the popular destinations on Mt. Desert Island. And yet it is far enough away to be secluded and quiet. We could hear the loons at night.

Our hosts, Roger and Laurie were gracious and kind. They went the extra mile to make our stay happy and enjoyable. If given the opportunity I would definitely return. -- Georgia G., July 2019

Spectacular View, Accommodating Host

The view... I can't put into words how gorgeous it was. Tons of towels, linens, kitchenware. They had endless supply of board/card games making evenings entertaining. Roger was chalk full of information on nearby places to go. Two separate living areas made it nice for kids to be on on side with adults on the other.

The view. Did I mention the view? The spacious deck? The kayak??? And he has lobster pots so we had fresh lobster one evening. An amazing stay full of memories we will cherish always. -- Laurel B., August 2018

Succulent and Tender Maine Seafood.

Fresh Maine Lobster

A trip to Maine is not complete without a crustacean… a fresh Maine lobster steamed and served with drawn butter. Some of our guests like to see how many times and how many different ways they can eat lobster while visiting - loster rolls, lobster and crab dip, lobster BLT sandwiches, lobster salads, lobster bisque - the options are delicious!

Because of its sweet, delicious flavor and tender texture Maine lobster is the world’s most prized catch. It used to be that the only lobster one could get in other parts of the country was lobster tails whereas the best and sweetest meat is in the claws. The soft-shell "shedders", caught in the summer, have the sweetest meat of all.

But there is much more to the Maine seafood scene than just lobster - clams, scallops, crab, oysters, mussels and a variety of fish including Atlantic salmon, trout, cod, haddock and even tuna are also plentiful.

You can pick up lobster and shellfish at the neighborhood lobster pound or pick up fresh fish right from the boat. Just show them what size you want and make sure to catch it when they toss it over to you! For those who like to fish, you can even pick up a fishing license and go out to catch your own. Surf casting - fishing from beaches, rocks, and piers – is popular or you can charter a guide to take you to the best offshore places.

fresh maine blueberries

Sweet & Juicy Blueberries and Local Fruits.

You may not be aware of this, but Maine's official fruit is the wild blueberry. Being a native plant, they're naturally adapted to Maine's unique soil and seasons and you can find them everywhere. These juicy low-bush blueberries are smaller and more flavorful than their cousins that are found in most grocery stores, and are perfect for baking.

You an try a sample as you hike the trails in Acadia or pick up some fresh blueberry pie or blueberry buckle from a local vendor.

If your travel plans include interior Maine, you may want to visit the state's apple orchards, strawberry fields or cranberry bogs.

There are well over 100 varieties of apples currently grown in Maine, but some favorites include Honeycrisp, Gala and McIntosh, along with many specialty varieties And who doesn't love a fresh ripe strawberry? You can eat them while they are super fresh or pick enough to take home and make something yummy!.
